Summertime, and life is easy …

n

At least that’s what a popular song says. But it seems that acute complaints are also in high season in summer. Children spend all day outdoors and get up to all sorts of mischief! And that usually leads to a lot of bruises!

n

Sometimes that supposedly easy life is anything but simple!

n

And a boisterous afternoon of rough-and-tumble play is not the only cause of bruises. Hasn’t the sofa ever jumped out at you when you least expected it? Or the table? Or a door?

n

And yes, that can leave its marks!

n

For severe haematomas you should always think of Arnica montana, either in the 30C or 200C potency, depending on the severity of the injury. Further information on dosing and potency can be found here. It is not the only remedy for haematomas, but it is certainly the best.

n

There are also Arnica creams, ointments and gels that are excellent for local application. In fact, these Arnica products are often the first homeopathic remedy people come into contact with in their lives. Arnica products are everywhere – and they work!

n

But do we have to treat every bruise just because we know the homeopathic remedy for haematomas? No! This is MEDICINE, dear readers. Homeopathy is not a dietary supplement, a vitamin or a spice. Just because you know a remedy exists does not mean you must use it for every little injury. Restraint is an important part of the learning process when it comes to the correct use of homeopathic remedies.

n

The odd occasional haematoma is normal and not a cause for concern. We save our remedies for more serious injuries or illnesses.

n

Recurrent bruising as a side effect of blood thinners

n

But please remember that constant bruising can be a consequence of certain medications. Older people are often covered in haematomas because they have been prescribed a daily aspirin or other blood-thinning medications by their doctor.

n

So it’s advisable to check whether recurrent bruising is a natural phenomenon or triggered by an unnatural, external cause. Homeopathy can only help to a limited extent if a medication prescribed for daily use is the cause!Schnelle Hilfe mit Homöopathie - Svetlana Pavlova / Clodagh Sheehy

n

Unfortunately Arnica is often controversial. And why? Because the plant Arnica montana in its raw form can cause bleeding. But we are not talking here about the Arnica plant as a raw substance – that is a completely different matter! We are talking about homeopathically potentised Arnica … Arnica that has been diluted and succussed until the unwanted properties are no longer present.

n

Those familiar with homeopathy know that the complaints a remedy can cause in its undiluted state are precisely the symptoms that remedy can cure after homeopathic preparation.

n

However, we always use our remedies with care; this applies to Arnica and all other homeopathics. Never arbitrarily. And we stop the remedy as soon as the complaints have clearly improved – that too is good medical practice.

n

Dosage for acute complaints

n

We also discontinue the remedy if we find that no improvement has occurred after a reasonable observation period. What do we mean by a ‘reasonable observation period’ in this case? For an acute complaint, there should be a marked improvement within two days at the latest. If not, the remedy should be stopped and a different approach considered. As with any medicine, we do not continue to give a homeopathic remedy if it is not working.

n

But if it is a natural cause (if one can even call devious sofas ‘natural’), Arnica 30 or 200, taken twice daily, can restore healthy skin colour and counter the intense greens and blues.

n

Homeopathy helps – spread the word!

n

n

Warmly,

n

Yours
