Below we publish feedback on the homeopathic remedies currently displayed.

We would welcome further observations.

5 April 2012: Feedback on the current flu wave, spring 2012

"Two months ago the first children fell ill with a severe flu with the following symptoms:

  • Chills with fever up to 40 °C
  • Headaches
  • Flushed bright red face/cheeks
  • Heavy eyelids
  • Sudden onset of severe sore throat with marked difficulty swallowing
  • Onset of pneumonia in some cases
  • Craving for milk
  • Particularity: all symptoms were better with the head kept low

Because of the last symptom I excluded Gelsemium and Causticum. I repertorised the following symptoms:

  • General – seasons – aggravated in spring
  • Face – colour – red – glowing red
  • General – influenza in children
  • Eyes – heaviness – eyelids
  • General – lying – head – ameliorated by a low head position

The repertorisation indicated Calcium carbonicum. After the administration of Calc. carb. C200 the high fever rapidly dropped, the severe sore throat eased and the great weakness also improved. When the remedy was given right at the onset of the flu, the flu did not fully develop and the patients were able to return to kindergarten/school the following day. When adults showed similar symptoms during the flu, although often only with low-grade fevers and limb pains, I also administered Calcium carbonicum C200 to them with the same success as in the children.

As soon as patients became chilled again after the flu, a renewed outbreak threatened in some. A repeated dose of Calc. carb. C200 was able to prevent the outbreak."

5 April 2012: Feedback on the current gastroenteritis outbreak, spring 2012

"Since March 2012 a severe gastroenteritis virus has been causing havoc with collapse-like states. Sudden onset of severe nausea with slight dizziness was followed by frequent vomiting and/or projectile diarrhoea, which led to a rapid loss of vitality, dizziness and in some cases collapse. Noteworthy was the cold sweat on the forehead and improvement when lying horizontally. The remedy of choice is Veratrum album C200. The following rubrics were used for repertorisation:

  • General – collapse – after diarrhoea
  • Sweat – cold – with nausea
  • Dizziness – accompanied by – vomiting
  • Stomach – vomiting – sudden
  • Sweat – cold – during vomiting

With the onset of severe nausea and timely administration of Veratrum album C30 the outbreak of the gastroenteritis infection could even be averted in some cases."
