Free yourself from chronic pain

Treating migraine homoeopathically

Chronic pain can make life virtually unbearable. The immediate and often severe suffering that physical pain can cause is the real tragedy. I mean the restrictions on movement, the disturbed sleep and the never-ending tiredness.

Life comes to a standstill

We mourn all the things we can no longer do because of the pain and exhaustion. We are no longer able to fully meet our professional obligations or may have to give up our jobs. Family gatherings go uncelebrated, parties are too exhausting and we can no longer lift the grandchildren into our arms. Life passes us by while each of our movements takes place in slow motion.

We try to regain at least a spark of quality of life with self-help groups, acupuncture, anti-inflammatory medication and antidepressants, while the pain nearly drives us mad.

Is there an alternative?

I would say – yes!

Take Gloria Doyle, for example, a mother of two with a VERY lively family.

The men of the Doyle family enjoyed excellent health. Gloria’s husband John simply never got sick and their two sons, Robert and Henry, were both outstanding athletes, bursting with energy. Gloria, by contrast, seemed to spend most of her time in bed.

In her youth she loved to dance to Gloria Gaynor’s disco hit I Will Survive. Even as an adult and busy mother she liked to put music on while cooking and preferred to do the housework to the rhythmic disco sound. When the two boys were little, they would happily imitate their mother’s dramatic disco poses to much laughter.

By now Gloria rarely listened to loud music, but she still took the motto of her favourite song to heart: “I will survive … I will survive!” In her worst moments she would resolutely think of that line to remind herself that giving up was not an option.

Gloria had suffered from severe migraine for many years.

Life with migraine

The kind of migraine that announces itself with an aura and not only makes stars dance before your eyes. Migraines that cut through the head like an ice-cold knife and literally bring sufferers to their knees.

Gloria missed many lovely moments of family life because of her migraine. Her three men ate meals on their own, went on day trips without her and many sporting events had to take place without her support. The noise would simply have been unbearable.

Gloria increasingly felt cut off from her family. This sometimes made her irritable and impatient. Feelings of guilt were not long in coming and Gloria deeply regretted not being able to be there for her family.

Gloria loved her husband and children dearly, but did not necessarily feel she could “live her life” and “give her love” as so beautifully sung by Gloria Gaynor. Gloria was simply relieved when a day went by without her losing her temper because someone had once again failed to take out the rubbish or had walked through the hallway in dirty shoes.

Homoeopathic SepiaGesamte homoeopathische Arzneimittellehre und Repertorium der homoeopathischen Arzneimittel im Paket

Gloria came to my consultation after a friend had recommended that she try homoeopathy. So we took a case history together. In homoeopathy there are VERY many wonderful remedies for migraine. I like to use a treatment protocol in which Picricum acidum C200 and Belladonna C3 are combined. The two remedies are taken roughly every three hours – depending on the intensity of the pain – until the migraine has noticeably improved.

In Gloria’s case the headaches were hormonally induced and we were able to treat the migraine successfully with a single homoeopathic remedy: Sepia. Gloria had her last migraine five weeks after she had started taking Sepia. At our follow-up appointment eight weeks later she was cautiously optimistic that the headaches were now a thing of the past.

The Doyles contacted me again a year later about a clavicle fracture that Robert had sustained playing hockey. Gloria confirmed to me that her optimism regarding the migraine had been vindicated – the headaches had not returned.

The joy of life returns

She hadn’t had a migraine for a year! Gloria had her hands full – she drove the two teenagers to hockey, tennis and football. She was finally able to take part in the many tournaments and sporting events.

She had almost forgotten what it felt like to lie in bed with a migraine. She definitely now knew what it meant to be back in the thick of life – “surviving” was no longer an ordeal, but pure joy.

Homoeopathy helps – spread the word!

Warmly,

Yours,
