We love the warmth and sunshine of summer. But too much sun and heat can quickly lead to problems. Before you set off for the local bathing lake or head to the seaside for your holidays, make sure you update your travel first-aid kit!
Even if you already know the best ways to protect yourself from an overdose of sun, it can happen now and then that you forget your sun hat or don't apply sunscreen in time. If an unpleasant and unwelcome sunburn does occur, the first remedy of choice is Cantharis C30. Cantharis is one of the main remedies for burns and belongs in every home and travel first-aid kit. Indicative symptoms for its selection include burning on the skin that is relieved by cold applications.
Cantharis can be given almost routinely for any kind of burn. The more severe the burn, the more frequently the remedy should be administered. But remember to taper off or stop the remedy as soon as the symptoms and the person's general condition improve.
Another unwanted side effect of intense sunbathing is dehydration. If your body has lost too much fluid, be sure to take in enough water and electrolytes to replace the loss. The following recipe is my absolute favourite and beats any commercial sports drink. It also tastes fantastic!
16 tablets Bioplasma
75 g probiotic yoghurt or kefir (with acidophilus and bifidus cultures)
70 to 125 ml freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice
Maple syrup or cold-extracted honey to taste
1 teaspoon sea salt
125 ml coconut milk (optional)
Mix the ingredients and enjoy immediately!
For extreme dehydration the following remedy has proven effective:
Cinchona officinalis (China) C30 – for exhaustion and weakness due to fluid loss. Indicators for this remedy are bloating, headaches, a sensitive scalp, a red face, a sensation of sand or pressure in the eyes and ringing in the ears. Again: the more severe the exhaustion, the more often the remedy is taken. As soon as the symptoms subside, the remedy is discontinued.
Be prepared! Homoeopathy helps you and your family stay safe and refreshed throughout the summer months.
Enjoy your holidays and spread the word!
