John Henry Clarke

John Henry Clarke
1853-1931

studied medicine in Edinburgh and was awarded his doctorate in 1877.

Early on, he sought contact to the “high-potency prescribers” such as Skinner and Berridge, which brought him into conflict with other homeopaths.
He edited the homeopathic journal “The Homoeopathic World“ for almost 30 years.

His major work was the “Dictionary of Practical Materia Medica,” published in 1900, which features a large number of remedies, drawing on multiple sources.

Clarke was a close friend of R. T. Cooper and J. Compton Burnett, so that his Dictionary contains the accumulated wisdom of these three great homeopaths.

Main works:
1. Dictionary of practical Materia Medica
2. A Clinical Repertory
