Piperine is an important component of pepper and curcuma is a root-like tuber of the turmeric plant, sometimes known as Indian saffron.
One capsule of Curcuma with Piperine per day provides the body with 315 mg curcuma extract (including 300 mg curcuminoids), supported by 10 mg piperine plus 200 mg turmeric powder with all the components of curcuma in their natural state.
What is piperine?
Piperine is one of the valuable ingredients of pepper. Black pepper has an especially large amount of piperine. This substance stimulates the heat receptors in the entire body. We perceive this as spiciness and we feel that it stimulates our metabolism. Combined with curcuma, piperine has a special function.
Why curcuma with piperine?
Since curcumin – the key ingredient of curcuma – has rather low bioavailability in our body, the piperine from black pepper helps our body to absorb and process it. Once curcuma is helped by piperine into the bloodstream, it can be absorbed more easily.
What exactly is curcuma?
We are most familiar with curcuma or turmeric as a powder, an ingredient of curry spices. The curcuma plant originates in south Asia and is a member of the ginger family. What we know as its powder comes from the tubers of the deep yellow root-like rhizomes of the plant. Curcuma is therefore also known as yellow root, Indian saffron and yellow ginger (in various languages). The tubers are used fresh or dried as a spice or colouring and are regarded as a traditional healing plant in ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
In India curcuma is one of the most important spices and has been used to replace saffron and as a traditional home remedy for the last 4000 years. India is still the world leader in terms of the area under cultivation of this herbaceous plant.
