Clemens von Bönninghausen
Clemens Maria Franz von Boenninghausen 1785-1864
was an inspired friend of Hahnemann and enjoyed his full support. He was the first to transpose the comprehensive materia medica into an indexed form in the repertory. At the same time, he was adept at sensing the genius of remedies.
Boenninghausen discovered homeopathy when it cured him of tuberculosis. Originally a jurist and a senior civil servant, he quickly became a successful homeopath. As the first practitioner without a medical license, he was frequently attacked by envious physicians, until he was finally awarded permission to practice medicine by royal decree.
