Ulrike Schuller-Schreib: Thrills, flood of ideas, time-wasting
In terms of the Sensation method, the three plant families are very similar and easily confused. Whereas the Lamiaceae, with keywords like ‘action, thrills, and pleasure’ are characterized by excitation of the senses, Rubiaceae terms such as ‘creativity, ideas, and future plan’s indicate mental stimulation as the central experience. The Piperaceae, on the other hand, need variety and amusement to distract them from the monotony and misery of existence. The common passive reaction of all three families is apathy and boredom, making it especially difficult to distinguish them from each other. The author uses three cases to illustrate differentiation in practice.
