Carroll Dunham

Caroll Dunham
1828-1877

was born in New York, the son of a wealthy businessman. During his medical studies, he was treated by a homeopathic doctor. He was so impressed by the treatment he received that he became a strong proponent of this method of healing.

While traveling for his studies in Europe, he met Boenninghausen and became his pupil. He attended Boenninghausen's practice and made detailed notes of his cases and the results.
Back in America, he became Professor of Materia Medica in 1865 at the New York Homoeopathic Medical College.

In 1899, James T. Kent wrote that he hoped that Dunham Medical College in Chicago would teach materia medica in the way that Dunham himself had done.
Dunham suffered from poor health and died at the early age of 49.

Main works:
1. How To Take The Case
2. Lectures on Materia Medica
3. The Science of Therapeutics
