The gold of the Allgäu pastures for a natural ORGANIC butter taste
ORGANIC Ghee from Allgäu is a speciality from the heart of Germany. It is made with clarified butter from the hay milk of Allgäu cows in premium organic quality. Ghee has a nutty and fine buttery taste with a light caramel flavour and can be used as an alternative to butter.
It can be heated to 210 °C, a high smoke point which means it can be used to make hot dishes. Since it contains no water, the fat does not spit when heated. Up to the smoke point, no trans-fats or other damaging substances are formed.
Ghee is made according to a traditional Ayurvedic recipe. The special melting and cooking process removes the water and milk protein from the butter, so the ghee is lactose-free and suitable for people with allergies. It can also be kept without cooling for several months.
The advantages of ORGANIC Ghee from the Allgäu pastures
The quality of Allgäu ORGANIC Ghee starts with the cows. The hay milk that is used to make the ghee comes from cows kept on organic pastures in Allgäu – in other words, the cattle graze on fresh green grass and wild herbs, without concentrated or GMO feed.
The summer butter used contains milk from grass-fed and pasture-fed cattle without feeding silage. Made and packaged according to Ayurvedic tradition by hand in Germany, the Allgäu ghee fulfils the highest quality standards and is a natural delicacy. The ghee is also gluten-free and GMO-free.
What is ghee used for?
In Indian cuisine, ghee plays a similar role to olive oil in southern Europe. The fat supports the uptake of fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K) in the body.
Ghee is used for frying, steaming, baking and for anything cooked warm. Vegetables, for example, are roasted with it before being used in dishes. Ghee is also tasty on bread as an alternative to butter.
Use of ghee in Ayurvedic healing
Ghee has a long history of use in Ayurveda and is mentioned 2500 years ago in the Ayurvedic texts. It is an important component of this nutrition and healing tradition. Ghee is not only used in the kitchen but also to support self-healing.
