Homoeopathic drugs act not all alike. To quote a few examples : Aconite maladies come with violence, Belladonna with suddenness, Causticum with slowness and Bismuth with suddenness and rapidity in its course. Rheumatism of Kalmia and Cactus go from above downward while that of Ledum goes from below upward. Lycopodium attacks the right side and goes from right to left while Lachesis prefers the left side and goes from left to right. While Aconite and Belladonna are short acting remedies, Carbo veg, Conium and Natrum mur. are long acting ones. Whereas, Calcarea, Graphites, Lycopodium and Sulphur are deep acting ones and Tuberculinum is both, deep and long acting one.

Besides, some maladies show a large number of prominent symptoms, the totality of which clearly stands before the minds eye a picture of one drug and that alone. It is therefore worthwhile to have a previous knowledge of such pictures so that when confronted with a patient the suitable drug comes to the mind in a flash and there is no necessity to hunt through the repertory and find out the similimum. Moreover sometimes the patients are in such a stage that they are almost between the jaws of Death. The doctor has then to act hurriedly and no time should be lost in consultation and questioning. It is on such occasions that these drug pictures would prove to be of great service.

Actual pictures of thirty two drugs have been given with important symptoms affecting the different parts of the human body thus serving the purpose of the pages of Materia Medica relating to the drug but all simultaneously in a single page. Twenty seven charts with therapeutic hints will further add to the utility of the books.
