Turns out, in Homeopathy, in our attempt to resolve human suffering, we try to understand life whether it is considered a dream or something within a dream. When our clients open up their hearts and share with us the narrative of their life, their fears, phobias, aversions and cravings, their pathological conditions as well as strange, rare and peculiar symptoms, their delusions, hopes and ambitions, it is only natural that they might wish to tell us also about their dreams. To understand the significance of their dreams, we do not have to become psychologists and perform dream interpretations per the teachings of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. Dr. Vakil's book on Dreams in Homeopathy shows that we can utilize the information revealed in the dreams to get close to the remedy state.

Dr. Vakil's book begins with the place of dreams in our sleep cycle – we spend more or less a 3rd of our lifespan in sleeping and a part of that time is spent in dreaming. Not all of these dreams are remembered upon waking, but it is a common knowledge that some dreams are simply unforgettable no matter how many decades ago we had seen them, and some dreams are seen so frequently that we simply feel like saying, 'Oh, not that again.' These are recurrent dreams. This first part of the book goes into describing various types of dreams and ends with an instruction on how to record our dreams.

Next comes part II and this is what I call – The Juicy Meat - for the homeopaths. This section is the main body of the book because in here, Dr.Vakil digs into the place of dreams in homeopathy. Our earliest provings since the time of Hahnemann, the oldest of material medicas and repertories all mention dreams. In this section, spread over 29 sub-chapters, questions and situations regarding dreams that are generally encountered in  daily practice are given in a succinct manner.

Illustrative cases are sprinkled throughout the book. These cases highlight the point being presented in the study and understanding of the dreams for homeopathic purposes. In the appendix section, the cases are listed from 1 through 107. Now that is a mighty rich trove of examples for expanding our awareness on the subject of dreams in homeopathy.

I was looking for a deeper and more satisfying section on repertory of dreams. However, if you are a regular user of homeopathic soft-ware, then you are only a few clicks away from an extensive repertory of dreams and very likely, reproducing the entire repertory of dreams in this book is not a very practical idea. In every other manner, reading this comprehensive book is a satisfying experience – something that I would recommend that you make sure to get for yourself.
